This study in Nepal tested a comprehensive approach to managing hypertension by involving community health workers (CHWs) who made home visits and ensured regular follow-up by healthcare providers. The trial included 1,252 participants with hypertension. Results showed that those in the intervention group had greater reductions in blood pressure and were more likely to engage in physical activity and improve their hypertension knowledge. However, waist-to-hip ratio increased, and diet quality worsened in the intervention group. Overall, the study suggests that involving CHWs in hypertension care is effective in improving blood pressure control in low-resource settings.
