Georgia’s Community Health Workers: An Investigation Into Core Competencies

September 21, 2024 By

Authors: Miles, Divad Danielle

This study explored the key skills and abilities that community health workers (CHWs) in Georgia need to be effective. Through surveys, focus groups, and interviews, it found that communication, advocacy, outreach, and relationship building are the most important competencies for CHWs. However, challenges like limited resources, trust issues with clients, low pay, and high stress were identified. The findings led to the creation of a competency framework and action plan to improve CHW training and performance in Georgia.
