The Health Equity Collective (HEC) partnered with the City of Houston Health Department to strengthen the Community Health Worker (CHW) workforce in Greater Houston as a step toward improving health equity. This two-year initiative gathered CHW employers and training organizations to develop a shared plan for workforce development. Baseline data was collected through interviews, surveys, and journey mapping to understand CHWs’ roles, challenges, and career experiences. Findings highlighted funding issues, job stability, and organizational priorities. This initiative uses CHW voices and stakeholder input to guide strategies for a stronger, more sustainable CHW workforce.
