Authors: Financing Alliance for Health
In 2018, the Financing Alliance for Health produced a series of fact cards providing key information on health landscapes, financing, and community health systems across eight countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, including Liberia.
In 2016, Liberia introduced the Community Health Services Policy, which sought to recruit, train, equip, supervise, and pay community health assistants. As of 2018, nearly 3,000 CHAs had been recruited and added to government payrolls. Sustainability, however, remains a challenge as the seven-year program is estimated to cost $75 million and is completely donor funded.
