CHWs have been deployed in rural Afghanistan to provide basic health care to Afghani women in remote areas. This paper explored Afghani women’s motivations to become CHWs. It suggests that female CHWs should be provided accreditation and encouragement to progress in their careers as CHWs. Additionally, this paper highlights the need for the integration of CHWs in the country’s health system.
