Feasibility of a combined online and in-person training model on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) counselling for village health workers in rural Qinghai, China

by

Authors: Qiong Wu, Xinya Zhu, Tao Xu, Xiaotong Wang, Na Meng, Yanfeng Zhang, Suying Chang

This study tested a new training model for village health workers in rural China to improve infant and young child feeding counselling. The program included two days of online training and one day in-person. Over 90% of workers completed the training, and their knowledge improved significantly. Both health workers and caregivers were highly satisfied, with most caregivers saying the counselling helped solve feeding problems. The training was also low-cost, at about $33 per person, showing it is a practical and scalable approach for rural areas.
