This review looked at studies on HPV self-sampling as a way to increase cervical cancer screening in underserved communities in the U.S. It found that most women found self-sampling easy and acceptable, with many preferring it over clinic-based Pap tests. Participation was higher when self-sampling was done in person and supported by education sessions, especially those led by community health workers. Results showed that self-sampling was just as accurate as tests done by clinicians, making it a promising option to reach women who are not regularly screened.
