This study sought to evaluate predictors of parent engagement in a family-based childhood obesity prevention and control intervention. Predictors were assessed through a clinic-based CHW-led Family Wellness Program consisting of in-person educational workshops attended by parents and children. Participants included adult caretakers of children aged 2-11 years, and attendance at intervention activities was recorded by a CHW. The results demonstrated that parents’ lower readiness to make behavioral and parenting changes related to their child’s health was the sole predictor of non-attendance at planned intervention activities. These findings emphasize a need for researchers to consider assessing and tailoring intervention strategies to align with families’ readiness to change while increasing the capacity of CHWs in obesity prevention and control interventions.
