This study explored the challenges and opportunities for Village Health Support Groups (VHSGs) in Cambodia, who provide maternal and child health services. Interviews with 38 stakeholders showed that while VHSGs are motivated and skilled, their work is limited by lack of resources, low community trust, and no stable financial support. Mobile health apps could help improve their performance, but barriers like low digital skills, heavy workloads, and weak internet access make adoption difficult. The study suggests gradually moving VHSGs to paid roles, offering professional training, and improving digital infrastructure to strengthen their work and support the use of mHealth tools.
