This qualitative study assessed the feasibility of integrating Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs) into the pre-hospital trauma care system in the rural Achham district of Nepal. Utilizing key informant interviews with FCHVs and health coordinators, the research found that FCHVs demonstrated high availability and motivation, with all (100%) expressing a strong interest in receiving training and participating in pre-hospital trauma care. Despite this enthusiasm, a significant knowledge gap exists, as 90% were unfamiliar with first response in trauma. Critically, health authorities from all represented municipalities showed unanimous support (100%) for FCHV training and mobilization. The study concludes that FCHVs possess the potential for successful integration, paving the way for improved trauma care access in rural Nepal, provided their efforts are supported by thoughtful program development including comprehensive training and supervision.
