This study in Cambodia looked at whether community health workers are prepared to support people with type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. A survey of 153 workers found that most had a good basic understanding of these conditions and already carried out some related health activities, although there were gaps in their knowledge of certain risk factors. The study also found that limited funding, resources, and unclear responsibilities could make it difficult for them to take on more work. Overall, community health workers could play a useful role in managing these conditions if they receive proper training, clear responsibilities, and enough support.
