Authors: Azeb Gebresilassie Tesema, Bindu Patel, Unise Vakaloloma, Samuel Thio, Devina Nand, Colleen Wilson, Rohina Joshi

This study explored how the community health worker program works in Fiji. It found that community health workers play an important role in improving basic health care and are trusted by their communities. There is strong government support, good supervision, and high motivation among workers. However, the program faces challenges, including uneven management, gaps in training, inconsistent incentives, staff shortages, and limited supplies. The study suggests that improving local leadership, training, support, and resources would help strengthen the program and primary health care in Fiji.
