Examining the role of community health workers amid extreme weather events in low- and middle-income countries: a scoping review

by

Authors: A Domingo, M Little, B Beggs, L J Brubacher, L L Lau, W Dodd

This review looks at how community health workers (CHWs) help during extreme weather events (EWEs) in low- and middle-income countries. CHWs play key roles in providing healthcare, supporting access to services, educating communities, collecting data, offering mental health support, and responding to weather-related emergencies. The review identifies barriers and opportunities to improve CHW programs and suggests ways to strengthen their role in building climate-resilient health systems. CHWs are essential for helping communities and health systems adapt to climate challenges.
