In this systematic review, authors investigated how gender intersects with healthcare, especially when considering community health work and arboviral vector-borne disease. Researchers used machine learning techniques to analyze 2,812 articles in Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed. Overall, researchers found most included studies were conducted in the global south, as South America, Africa, and southern Asia have greater incidences of vector-borne diseases. Additionally, authors found that most studies considered issues of sex and gender as they relate to motherhood. Given the limitations of existing literature, authors conclude that more research is needed to better understand gender, community health, and vector control outside the context of reproductive health and binary sex differences.
