Mexico faced a significant burden of COVID-19, with marginalized areas and healthcare workers being particularly affected. Compañeros En Salud (CES) implemented a community health worker (CHW)-led contact tracing program in rural Chiapas. This study evaluated this intervention from March 2020 to December 2021. Among 2,177 named contacts, 54.5% received home visits from CHWs, with 25.7% completing contact tracing successfully. Of these, 16.6% became suspected COVID-19 cases. Factors like sex, community, and intervention period influenced the contact tracing outcomes. The study recommends using digital tools for data collection, ensuring CHWs are well-trained, and involving communities in program design to address concerns.
