This study in Belgium tested a training program for community volunteers who support people with serious illness and end-of-life care needs. The training aimed to improve their knowledge, communication skills, and confidence when working with families and health professionals. After the training, volunteers showed better understanding of palliative care and felt more confident in discussing needs and connecting people to services. They also reported feeling more aware of their role and better able to set boundaries. Overall, the training was well received and showed early signs that it can improve how volunteers support people in palliative care, with potential for wider use.
