This review examined how Community Health Worker (CHW)-led programmes help people manage high blood pressure in underserved urban communities in the United States. Across 10 studies, most programmes helped lower blood pressure and improve healthy habits, such as taking medication regularly and checking blood pressure at home. Programmes lasting at least six months showed more consistent improvements than shorter ones. The findings suggest that CHWs can help people manage high blood pressure through regular support, culturally appropriate education, and links to healthcare services. However, more high-quality research is needed to confirm these benefits and guide wider use of such programmes.
