This study evaluated the counseling skills of Community Health Workers (CHWs) who support pregnant adolescents in Limpopo province, South Africa. Using a questionnaire and data from 81 CHWs, the study found that there were significant differences in how CHWs approached various stages of counseling, such as preparation, introduction, working phase, and termination. Many CHWs also viewed record-keeping as unnecessary. Overall, while CHWs demonstrated good counseling techniques, the study highlights the need for improvements in their skills to better support pregnant adolescents and improve health outcomes.
