A program led by community health workers (CHWs) aimed to educate migrant and refugee agricultural workers in Washington state about pesticide safety. The CHWs conducted 28 workshops in Spanish, reaching 263 participants from various communities. Most attendees had not received prior pesticide training. After the workshops, participants showed improved understanding of pesticide-related illnesses, pesticide labels, and proper methods for washing produce. The study highlights that CHWs are effective in improving pesticide safety knowledge among these communities, though further work is needed to enhance the use of a mobile app designed for this training.
