Effect of nutrition counselling with a digital job aid on child dietary diversity: Analysis of secondary outcomes from a cluster randomised controlled trial in rural Bangladesh

In this randomized control trial, researchers assessed four maternal and child nutrition interventions. Authors enrolled 1,500 women from Bangladesh and followed them until their child reached the age of two. During the intervention, participants received digital learning aids and various combinations of prenatal and postnatal supplements. In a fifth intervention arm, additional feeding counseling was provided by CHWs. Researchers found that there was a slight improvement in dietary diversity among households with mild or moderate food insecurity, but found no significant improvement in households that were severely food insecure. Nonetheless, researchers found CHW-led feeding education contributed towards improved child feeding practices, supporting the case for their role in this context.
