This study in northern Thailand tested a training program to prepare village health volunteers to identify people at risk of dementia and support efforts to reduce that risk. Ninety-six volunteers took part, with half receiving the training and the other half continuing with their usual activities. Those who received the training showed clear improvements in their ability to identify people for screening, plan activities, record and refer cases, support risk reduction, and monitor progress. Overall, the study shows that focused training can better prepare community health volunteers to support dementia care in their communities.
