Development and Validation of a Stroke Literacy Assessment Test for Community Health Workers

by

Authors: Janhavi Mallaiah, Olajide Williams, John P Allegrante

This article presents the development and validation of the Stroke Literacy Assessment Test (SLAT) for assessing Community Health Workers’ (CHWs) competencies in stroke prevention. The SLAT evaluates factual knowledge and application levels related to stroke risk factors. Through expert reviews, cognitive interviews, and diagnostic analysis, the SLAT demonstrated validity and reliability. It offers a valuable tool for assessing CHWs’ competency in chronic disease prevention, particularly in stroke prevention efforts.
