Developing and Evaluating an Expert-Benchmarked Educational Framework for Community Health Workers to Guide Women on Contraceptive Use and Family Planning: Insights from the Sukh Initiative, Karachi, Pakistan

by

Authors: Ayesha Anjum Khan

This study examined a structured training approach for Community Health Workers (CHWs) in peri-urban Karachi to help women make informed choices about contraception and family planning. The approach used simple, culturally appropriate materials in different local languages and was based on the needs of the communities served. Programme data showed increased use of modern contraceptive methods, including IUCDs. The study suggests that well-trained CHWs can help improve access to family planning information and services and reduce unplanned pregnancies.
