Trained community health volunteers (CHVs) provide community case management of malaria (CCMM) in rural Kenya, but information on the quality of services is limited. Through a cross-sectional survey, this study found that 62% of CHVs offered quality services for malaria management. The study found a direct association between quality of services CHVs provided and stock-outs of artemether-lumefantrine, stock-outs of malaria rapid diagnostic tests and support supervision. The paper suggests that with a reliable supply of commodities, regular support supervision and additional biosafety, CHVs can provide improved CCMM in rural Kenya.
