Determinants of Effective Child Immunization Delivery: A Study of Community Health Units in Informal Settlements in Nairobi County, Kenya

by

Authors: Lenah Chepkorir, Wanja Tenambergen, Job Mapesa

This study examined how accountability systems and human resource practices affect the effectiveness of Community Health Units (CHUs) in delivering child immunization services in Nairobi’s urban informal settlements. Data from 354 Community Health Workers showed that clear accountability and proper human resource practices significantly improved CHU performance. The findings suggest that strengthening communication, community involvement, and supervision are key to enhancing immunization services. Policymakers should prioritize these factors to improve immunization coverage and public health in underserved areas.
