In Arizona, cancer remains the second leading cause of death, particularly affecting Black and Hispanic/Latino communities. To address cancer disparities, researchers conducted Design Studios for Health (DSH) listening sessions in early 2024, gathering feedback from community members about cancer prevention needs. Participants identified breast, skin, and prostate cancer as priority concerns and emphasized the importance of shared resources on survivorship and prevention. They recommended educational workshops and community events to enhance awareness. The team plans to create engaging online games for cancer education and collaborate with community health workers to provide screenings in underserved areas of Phoenix later in 2024.
