In Nepal, female community health volunteers (FCHV) provide health services to mitigate cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Using a mixed methods approach, researchers administered a CVD risk screening questionnaire to 491 adults and conducted focus groups among FCHVs to understand perceptions of CVD risk screening. The authors concluded that there is a strong potential to implement CVD screening tools among FCHV based on the enthusiasm expressed during the focus groups. The questionnaire had high rates of sensitivity and specificity, suggesting that this tool, together with FCHV intervention could help reduce the burden of CVD in Nepal.
