The BRCCH-EDCTP COVID-19 Initiative in Lesotho and Zambia explored community-based COVID-19 screening and testing strategies. In Lesotho, village health workers visited homes to screen for symptoms and offer testing, while in Zambia, community hubs provided testing to walk-in visitors. Both approaches successfully identified SARS-CoV-2 cases, with higher positivity rates among symptomatic individuals. The findings highlight the feasibility of community-based testing and provide insights for future strategies. However, the study’s small scale and descriptive nature limit direct comparisons and generalizability. Nonetheless, the results underscore the importance of community involvement in COVID-19 testing efforts.
