The Community Tool Box is a free, online resource for those working to build healthier communities and bring about social change. Our mission is to promote community health and development by connecting people, ideas, and resources.
The Tool Box consists of 46 chapters with topics ranging from community assessment to strategic planning to leadership and management. Each chapter also contains a related toolkit that can be utilized by your organization or used as a teaching tool.
In addition to the chapters, the Tool Box offers support for troubleshooting common problems around community work. Users can access a database of best practices, consult an advisor or take an online course to learn more about issues such as, community health assessments and improvement planning.
The Community Tool Box is a public service developed and managed by the University of Kansas (KU) Work Group for Community Health and Development and partners nationally and internationally. The Tool Box is a part of the KU Work Group’s role as a designated World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Community Health and Development.
