In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the government of Thailand trained Village Health Volunteers (VHVs) to both educate their communities and identify community cases of COVID-19 to offset the lack of health professionals in the region. With the success of VHVs in identifying cases and educating communities, Thailand was able to control the spread of the virus without utilizing lockdowns or comprehensive COVID-19 testing. This highlights the instrumental nature of VHVs in responding to public health emergencies, such as the COVID-19 Pandemic.
