In Tamil Nadu, India, a study explored community views on the ethics and professionalism of community health workers (CHWs). Through focus groups and interviews, the research found that while CHWs often provide good service and use technology effectively, they also face challenges. Problems included living far from communities, poor communication, and failing to meet their duties. The community also reported issues like dishonesty, demanding bribes, and treating people poorly, especially among marginalized groups. Positive qualities noted included empathy, trustworthiness, and kindness. The study highlights the need for better training to address these ethical concerns and improve CHW practices.
