Diabetes prevalence continues to grow in the United States, straining the healthcare workforce and increasing disease-burden. This practice piece from the American Association of Diabetes Educators argues that community health workers should be considered in the provision of diabetes self-management education and support (DSMES) to communities experiencing high rates of diabetes.
