This study explores why community health workers (CHWs) continue or discontinue using mobile health applications (MHAs) in primary care. Using a combination of expectation confirmation theory, the information system success model, and the consumer expectations model, the researchers developed a new framework to understand these factors. A survey of 459 CHWs confirmed several key insights. The study proposes an improved expectation confirmation model, finds a complex relationship between CHWs’ expectations and their satisfaction, and introduces a unique CHW perspective on MHA usage. It also highlights the impact of different health institution types on these factors, providing valuable insights for policymakers and MHA providers.
