Adherence to HIV treatment is challenging, especially for youth. Motivational Interviewing (MI) helps promote behavior change by focusing on clients’ motivations. Community Health Workers (CHWs) can use MI, but they often lose the skills. mHealth tools can support CHWs in delivering MI, but it is crucial to understand the barriers and facilitators of using such tools. This study developed and tested an mHealth tool called COMMIT+ for CHWs to use with HIV-positive youth in rural Nepal. Through interviews with 12 CHWs and 7 supervisors, the study found that supportive supervision and user-friendly features can help overcome many barriers to using the tool.
