Successful CHW programs are well planned and considerations about work and workload are carefully thought through in advance. This paper highlights the need to consult with local CHW’s as well as previous literature when planning roles and tasks for CHWs for new programs. It provides a list of 10 questions that can help program planners consider important issues when determining CHW roles and tasks, along with key implications for CHW roles.
