Community Health Workers (CHWs) play an important role in bringing primary healthcare closer to communities in Nigeria by providing health education, supporting maternal and child health, assisting with immunization, preventing diseases, and referring people for further care. However, their work is limited by inadequate training, low pay, weak supervision, limited resources, staff shortages, and poor integration into the health system. The article highlights the need for stronger policies, better training, fair support, and adequate resources to help CHWs improve access to quality healthcare across Nigeria.
