Community Health Workers’ and Pharmacists’ Perspectives of a CHW-Pharmacist Collaboration Model to Support Medication Adherence

by

Authors: Carole Bandiera, Sabuj Kanti Mistry, Elizabeth Harris, Mark F. Harris, Parisa Aslani

This study explored whether community health workers and pharmacists could work together to help patients take their medicines correctly. Most participants believed this teamwork could improve care, especially because community health workers help build trust with patients. However, they also pointed out challenges like unclear roles, limited training, and the need for better coordination. The study suggests that with clear responsibilities, proper training, and strong teamwork, this approach could work well.
