This review looked at how different community health worker programs are set up and how that affects results. It found that programs work best when workers receive strong support, clear guidance, and the right tools. Simply training workers or adding technology is not enough on its own. Home visits, team-based care, and models that mix in remote support showed the strongest results, including better control of long-term illnesses and fewer hospital visits. Overall, the study shows that how a program is run matters more than just having one in place.
