This study reviewed programs in the United States where community health workers support mothers with mental health challenges during and after pregnancy. It found that these programs often help reduce symptoms of depression, especially among low-income and minority women, by providing emotional support, practical guidance, and parenting skills. While results vary, most studies showed positive effects. The review suggests that community health workers can help fill gaps in mental health care, but more research is needed to strengthen these programs.
