This review found that community health volunteers can play an important role in helping reduce antibiotic misuse and slow the spread of antimicrobial resistance in sub-Saharan Africa. Their work improved community knowledge, reduced unnecessary antibiotic use, and supported better diagnosis and disease prevention. However, limited training, resources, and support remain major challenges. The study concludes that investing in community health volunteers and integrating them into national health programs could strengthen efforts to tackle antimicrobial resistance.
