This study explored how community health workers in Pader District, Northern Uganda, view health problems and barriers to care in their communities. Through group discussions with 46 community health workers, researchers found that malaria, maternal and child health problems, and rising chronic diseases are major concerns. The workers explained that long distances to health facilities, lack of medicines, and transport challenges often prevent people from getting care, even when they understand how to prevent or treat illnesses. The findings show that while communities often have health knowledge, limited access to services makes it difficult to act on it, highlighting the need for stronger and more accessible health systems.
