This study examined whether a short training on opioid overdose prevention could improve community health workers’ knowledge and confidence in responding to overdoses. After the training, participants had a better understanding of opioid overdose response, felt more confident using naloxone (Narcan), and showed more positive attitudes toward helping people affected by opioid use. Most participants reported feeling capable of responding to an overdose after the training. However, some knowledge gaps remained, suggesting that follow-up training and refresher sessions may be needed to help community health workers maintain and strengthen their skills.
