The Bring it Down program tested whether community health workers could help people with high blood pressure connect to primary care and improve their health. Participants were recruited from emergency departments and mobile health units. Out of thousands eligible, only a small percentage joined the program. Among those who followed up, blood pressure dropped by an average of 16 mmHg within about three weeks. The results suggest that linking people to care through community health workers can work, especially in vulnerable communities, but more research is needed to boost participation and long-term follow-up.
