To address educational gaps for people with historically marginalized backgrounds, schools have been working to provide supporting resources by incorporating community health and education workers (CHEWs) trained in cultural humility, emotional intelligence, community organizing, and school district standards. They served as liaisons between families, resources, and schools, providing health and educational outreach and advocacy. This intervention focused on multiple characteristics of the individual, family, school, and community, and yielded a more positive influence on students’ learning and academic achievement
