Barriers and Facilitators to Implementing an Evidence-Based Community Health Worker Model

by

Authors: Simone H. Schriger; Molly Knowles; Talia Daglieri

This study explores the challenges and supports in implementing an evidence-based community health worker (CHW) model called IMPaCT. Interviews with 39 individuals involved in the program reveal barriers such as financial and policy constraints and difficulties integrating CHWs into clinical settings. However, the model’s focus on relationships and evidence-based strategies emerged as key facilitators. These findings offer insights for policymakers and practitioners to better support CHW programs and improve public health outcomes.
