Assessment of health status, utilization, and out-of-pocket expenditure among the elderly in Ngestiharjo, Bantul, Yogyakarta

This study investigates the health needs of older people in Ngestiharjo Village, Yogyakarta, aiming to empower community health workers. Surveying 330 participants, it found prevalent conditions like hypertension and joint issues, with some likely experiencing depression. Most utilized private hospitals for hospitalization and outpatient care, with significant reliance on health insurance. The study emphasizes the importance of community health workers in disseminating health information and addressing barriers to healthcare access and expenditure for older populations.
