This study looked at whether community health workers (CHWs) in six African countries are providing the nutrition services outlined in national policies. Interviews with 735 CHWs and a review of policy documents showed gaps between what CHWs are supposed to do and what they actually deliver. While most CHWs provided child-focused services like Vitamin A, deworming, and treatment for diarrhea, fewer offered services for women, such as iron supplements. Training and pay varied widely between countries, and services often matched only what CHWs were trained for. The findings highlight the need to better align policies, training, and resources so CHWs can deliver essential nutrition support to both women and children.
