This study evaluated the efficacy of a mental health assessment training program for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) in rural India. Twelve ASHA workers received training in mental health assessment and mental health knowledge. The training program significantly improved the mental health knowledge and Global Mental Health Assessment Tool checklist scores of the ASHA workers, suggesting that such programs can help bridge the gap in mental health care in rural areas.
