Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) are key to healthcare in rural India but face significant challenges, as seen in a study of 150 workers in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. Major issues include delayed payments (70%), heavy workloads (92%), poor training (71%), and inadequate facilities (97%). Many report harassment (95%), high stress (89%), and tough working conditions (73%). Transportation issues (91%), stigma, and discrimination further hinder their work. These challenges highlight the need for better support, safer environments, and improved resources to ensure ASHAs can perform effectively.
