The ARCHWAy Program in Atlanta trains community health workers (CHWs) to improve care for underserved communities. The 12-week program, offered in English and Spanish, combines classroom learning, simulations, and hands-on field placements, covering skills like mental health first aid, health promotion, and emergency preparedness. So far, over 200 CHWs have been added to the local public health workforce, helping to bridge health gaps and promote equity. By preparing CHWs to work in diverse healthcare teams, ARCHWAy aims to create a model for CHW training that enhances public health and reduces health disparities.
